An Adaptable, Easy-going & Comfortable Atmosphere
The School Age program provided by Marathon Children and Family Centre offers exceptional care for children between the ages of 4 – 13 years. Our ideas and activities are devised through observing the children and developing program plans based upon the interests of the children, as per the Reggio Emilia Approach. This creates a trusting, easy-going and calming educational environment with plenty of age-appropriate activity choices.
Our curriculum plans for our School Age Program are structured around the interests of the children. For example, we may explore camping, a certain play, party planning, or role playing certain occupations such as veterinary or fast food services. Through such play and exploration, the children engage in problem-solving activities which allow them to strengthen their collection, understanding, interpretation, communication, decision-making and conclusion skills. The children work with each other and lead the educator to formulate certain questions they are wondering about and then come to conclusions to these questions through working and exploring together.
A variety of activities are set up based on the interests of the children to allow the children to make their own activity choices while exploring their individual curiosities. This promotes the accommodating, tranquil, secure and peaceful environment we strive to provide.
Our School Age Program also offers before-school, after-school and Professional Activity Day services.
