Getting Involved
Marathon Children and Family Centre supports and promotes parental involvement. We encourage parents to continually be active participants in their child’s growth, development, education and day-to-day activities. You are more than welcome to stop in throughout the day to visit your child and/or to partake in the daily program with your child if you wish. Each day, educators will communicate with parents to discuss their child’s day. Child portfolios and daily program panels are also made available for parents to view in order to see what their children are learning and to keep up with the activities their children are participating in. In addition, families are encouraged to attend the special events we put on during the year such as our Annual Family Get-togethers. Notice of these events and details will be made available closer to their scheduled dates.
Field Trips
Educators will plan special trips to places around the community when the children show such interest. A notification form along with a permission slip will be sent home in advance once educators finalize the dates and details of these special trips. The notification form will list the destination of the special trip, the date of the excursion and the departure and arrival times. The permission slip must be signed, dated and returned by the parent/caregiver. Parents are more than welcome to come with their child and the educators on these special trips.
Program Development
All of our programs are assessed on a regular basis in order to ensure our centre stays current and incorporates the most recent alterations in the Child Care and Early Learning Years Act, 2014 Licensing Standards into our curriculum. Monthly workshops are held for staff to make way for continuous professional advancement and to guarantee the upkeep of contemporary Early Childhood Educator philosophies and beliefs.

Our Staff
The staff of Marathon Children and Family Centre consists of Registered Early Childhood Educators who are members of the College of Early Childhood Education and some are also members of the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario.
